Thiol-based multilayer ¨C The workhorse
Argalin T is the standard anti-tarnish for automotive applications, designed to deliver strong, reliable, multilayer thiol protection that prevents discoloration and preserves electrical performance. Suitable for all tool types, it supports both immersion and cathodic application methods. With a pH range of 1.5¨C2.5, Argalin T offers effective tarnish resistance, confirmed by strong TAA and K?S test values. It maintains stable contact resistance and provides good solderability, making it a versatile and dependable solution for high-volume industrial use.

Thiol-based monolayer ¨C The solderable one
Argalin IM is a monolayer thiol anti-tarnish, engineered for outstanding solderability and universal tool compatibility. Designed for immersion application, it operates effectively within a pH range of 5.5¨C7.5, providing very good solderability while maintaining stable contact resistance. With medium tarnish protection, Argalin IM is ideal for applications where process performance and solderability must be balanced¡ªmaking it a strong choice for LED leadframes, connectors, and busbars where reliable electrical and mechanical bonding is essential.

Cr(III)-based ¨C High-performance protection
Argalin XL is the highest-performing anti-tarnish in the Argalin portfolio, offering exceptional resistance even after high-temperature exposure above 500¡ãC. Based on Cr(III) chemistry, it delivers extremely strong protection against corrosion ¨C including resistance against hydrofluoric acid (HF) and maintains low impact on electrical contact resistance. Applied cathodically within a pH range of 5.8¨C6.5, Argalin XL achieves perfect results in both TAA and K?S tests, positioning it as the top solution for demanding environments such as advanced connectors, power electronics, and harsh-condition applications.
What inspires us
Why we developed Argalin family solutions
Your challenge
Silver is widely used for its electrical conductivity and cost-effectiveness. However, its susceptibility to tarnishing, especially when exposed to sulphur, humidity or high temperatures, poses a significant challenge. Manufacturers require protective layers that preserve surface brightness and low contact resistance, while ensuring long-term reliability across diverse tool types and production conditions.
Our solution
The Argalin family was developed to offer flexible, high-performance anti-tarnish solutions tailored to every protection level. From monolayer to multilayer thiol systems and high-performance Cr(III) coatings, Argalin products provide reliable tarnish resistance, strong chemical stability, and excellent process compatibility. All formulations are sustainable, water-based, and Cr(VI)-free, ensuring safe and efficient integration into modern plating lines.
