Novoplate? family
Novoplate family offers hard nickel-phosphorous and nickel-tungsten processes for connectors, cables, leadframes, battery components, delivering wear resistance, corrosion protection, and reliable barrier performance.
Novoplate HS
High-speed nickel-phosphorous process with excellent wear and corrosion resistance.
Novoplate BF
Boron-free nickel-phosphorous process delivering excellent wear and corrosion resistance.
Novoplate NiW
Wear-resistant nickel-tungsten process based on co-deposition of tungsten for enhanced barrier performance.
Novoplate HS
Deposits a thin nickel layer with a defined and controllable phosphorous content. Depending on the application requirements, the phosphorous content can be adjusted in the range of 4¨C17%, enabling customers to tailor deposit properties for corrosion protection, wear resistance, and barrier performance. The process is designed for applications such as connectors requiring high corrosion and wear resistance, and it can also be used as a final finish for thick aluminum wire bonding on leadframes. By providing a functional nickel-phosphorous barrier layer, Novoplate HS can help reduce the following gold layer thickness from 0.5 ¦Ìm to 0.3 ¦Ìm, supporting precious metal savings while maintaining surface performance.
Novoplate BF
Novoplate BF is a boric acid-free nickel-phosphorous electrolyte that deposits a thin nickel layer with a defined and controllable phosphorous content. Like Novoplate HS, the phosphorous content can be adjusted in the range of 4¨C17%, allowing deposit properties to be matched to the specific needs of the application. The process is engineered for high corrosion and wear resistance in connector applications and can also serve as a final finish for thick aluminum wire bonding on leadframes. Novoplate BF also enables reduction of the subsequent gold layer from 0.5 ¦Ìm to 0.3 ¦Ìm, helping customers improve material efficiency while supporting reliable functional performance.
Novoplate NiW
Novoplate NiW is a bright nickel-tungsten plating process designed to increase corrosion and wear resistance in connector applications. The process produces deposits containing 15¨C40% tungsten with a Vickers hardness of 450¨C550 HV, providing a robust surface for demanding functional applications. In addition to connector applications, Novoplate NiW can be applied in lithium-ion batteries as a coating for lead tabs and current collectors due to its excellent corrosion behavior. Used as a diffusion barrier between the base material and precious metal layer, Novoplate NiW supports significant precious metal reduction through its strong barrier function.
What inspires us
Why we developed Novoplate family
Your challenge
Manufacturers of connectors, cables, leadframes, and related electronic components need surfaces that can withstand wear, corrosion, and long-term operating stress. At the same time, they require reliable barrier layers to suppress interdiffusion between base materials and final metal finishes, while helping to protect against whisker formation and improve corrosion protection.
Our solution
The Novoplate family addresses these requirements with advanced nickel alloy processes designed to create robust functional barrier layers. With nickel-phosphorous and nickel-tungsten technologies, ÌÇÐ͝Âþvlog¡¯ Atotech enables corrosion- and wear-resistant surfaces, supports precious metal reduction, and provides proven processes suitable for high-volume manufacturing.
